Creating Temenos in your January
Temenos. noun. ARCHAEOLOGY. A piece of ground surrounding or adjacent to a temple; a sacred enclosure or precinct.
Take a candle of the heart🕯️. Light it
Empty your breath. Linger at the bottom each time 🫁
Make a circle around yourself.⭕️
Exist in your own circle, with your whole being, fully and with gravity. 🧘
Now speak a prayer for yourself, for your loved ones, and for the world. 🙏
Open your heart to the words you have spoken 💗
Sing the chorus of your favourite love song 🎶
Inscribe love on your heart with your finger🫶
Now take a walk around your place of home. Take in the familiar surfaces and objects of your life. 🏡
Jacket and scarf on next if it’s cold there with you. Take a short walk around your garden or the block. 🧥 🧣
Arrive at a tree you love. 🌳
Nourish the imaginal space between you both, and be nourished by the witness of your tree. 🤩
Unite with any stray thoughts in the air, let them untangle, soften like silk, and slip back home to you, 🎗️
Allow the thoughts to return to the Earth for composting. 🌍
Return home with deep gratitude for it all. 🏠
You are all of it. Home. Imaginal space. Body being breathed. January being lived. Temenos.
Thank you so much for this today! Coming back into work after the holidays I've been excited because "busy" is familiar ground. But for the first time I made the connections between "busy" and the loss of the rituals that ground me. As I wrote to you on FB -- if you want to know how I'm doing don't ask me "how I'm doing" ask whether I've been maintaining the rituals of life that nourish me or have I put them aside for "more important" tasks?
I had put them aside. I realized I had put them aside. And then I found your post in my inbox.
So so helpful. Thank you my dear friend.
A lovely and focused meditation for body, heart and mind. I like the composting of stray thoughts... everything welcome, everything nourishment, everything recycled.
